I have accomplished this list! It
was great I woke up early on Monday and got myself all pretty! I feed the baby
and started the list. I was working until 7 at night but hey I finished the
list. I am still behind on laundry believe it or not. I do around 2-3 loads a
day but I need to do more because I keep getting backed up and forgetting to
start the dryer. Now I haven’t started cooking many meals yet. I want to start
on this next. I just wanted to make sure I could accomplish the list first
before I started baking and cooking like crazy. This will be a short post today
because I still have lots to do today. Does anyone even read this blog yet?

Day 1: Epic Fail
Today is the first
day of my challenge. Well we have got off to a rocky start. I set my alarm to
wake me up at 7:30 but instead I woke up at 9.00. My husband, cal, and I all
stayed in bed till around 9:30 talking and watching cal learn to crawl. He is
in the beginning stages of crawling back and forth between us. It was so much
fun to watch him crawl. So not my ideal wake up time but it was great to spend
time with the family. Hey it’s Sunday anyway so it’s okay to wake up later.
I
started the chore list as soon as I woke up and I was off to a great start.
Even though it is later in the morning around 10:30 I still got to number 10 on
the list before 11.30. Not a bad start if you ask me. Then I took a lunch break
and since it was Sunday and my husband wasn’t working he wanted to pick some
things up from Costco. So I went with him and that obviously didn’t allow me to
continue cleaning. I got to number 16 before we left.
We get to Costco to
pick up some water, dinner, and baby formula.
As soon as we get through the check out and almost out the door we start
to get in a fight. At the time it seemed like it was over something important
but it really was absolutely over something stupid. So after about a silent car
ride home and an hour at home to ourselves we agreed this was a very stupid
fight and that we were both sorry. I didn't feel like cooking so we ordered a
pizza; we can just pretend I made it.
So honestly today
was an attempt at doing the whole cleaning list but it ended up as an epic
fail. That is okay because tomorrow is a new day and a day to try again. So I look
forward to tomorrow to getting through the whole list hopefully. It should go
pretty fast in the morning because I dusted the bedroom and living room really
good today.
Until tomorrow,
Frankie

Becoming A 50's Housewife
My
husband Chris and I have been married for almost a year now. Our anniversary is
on March 1st. We have a beautiful baby boy who is 5 months old. I
have noticed through this year of marriage that I’m not the ideal housewife. I
honestly sit most of the day either in front of the TV or on the computer. I don’t
make homemade meals and I hardly clean every day. I tidy up but I don’t clean
everything that I want to. I have been disappointed in myself that I can’t
clean, cook, and take care of the baby. I want to be the ideal 50’s women!
I’ve
decided to really try and put an effort into cleaning EVERYTHING. That will be
the hardest part for me because I always get distracted with our son. I found an
ultimate 50s cleaning list on http://www.jenbutneverjenn.com/2010/05/keeping-of-house-1950s-style.html
I will try to do everything on her list. The next thing I want to do is start
cooking. No more eating out or buying microwavable food. It’s really not healthy
and I do not want my son to pick up my bad habits one day. My mother has some
vintage 1950s cook books, so I will barrow hers and use some modern day cook
books too. I have never really cooked before either so this will be an
adventure for me as well.
The
next thing I admire about the 50s housewives is how they always look perfect. I
spend most of the day in pajamas or sweatpants.
Just the thought of getting myself dolled up every day makes me excited.
I feel like when I shower, do my makeup,
and get dressed in a nice outfit; I will feel more motivated to clean the house
every day and make dinner for Chris.
Here I go! Tomorrow February 22nd
will be the first day I start my ideal housewife challenge. I will write posts
about my experience on learning how to become a housewife and what everyone
should know. I am excited to start this new journey tomorrow morning!
